The TAG Program is an integral part of the Torrington Middle School.
Identified students are serviced both in the resource room as well as in the classroom.
In addition, all students can be involved in a variety of special activities through
school-wide enrichment. After school programs are also available for interested students.
Students identified as Talented and Gifted in the elementary schools typically
continue in the middle school program. The identification process for TAG continues in the middle school for eligible students.
Eligible students excel in the following three categories: Above Average Ability, Task Commitment, and Creativity.
The identification process uses multiple
criteria: teacher, parent, and peer nomination; Connecticut Mastery Testing results; academic grades, Renzulli's Gifted Characteristics Rating Scale, work samples, project samples, etc. The Torrington Schools' Talented and Gifted Program
implements the Renzulli Schoolwide Enrichment Model.
