We encourage our students to use the Connecticut Digital Library and our subscription database Grolier Online as a first step when searching for information online as reliable and objective information can sometimes be difficult to find on the Internet.  Search results on Grolier Online provide  a list of links to web sites that have been evaluated and contain information on the search topic.   If a search of the internet is still necessary  see below for a list of "Kid-Friendly" seardh engines that students may wish to use.
 
  Subscription Databases

image   Grolier Online Encyclopedia  Access to an award winning reference resource containing seven different encyclopedia (in varied reading levels), Ebsco periodical database and web links through one search. Accessible from home with a user name and password available in the media center.

image      Connecticut Digital Library. This is the link to the main screen which searchs all of the available resources simultaneously. Use from home requires a public library card number

image        INFOTRAC Junior. This is a direct link to the InfoTrac Jr. database. Contains Articles and curriculum-related materials selected especially for grades 6-8. such as the Columbia Encyclopedia, magazine and newspaper articles. Accessible from home with a public library card number.
