Program Goals

Mrs. Karen Schick

"The Talented and Gifted Program is designed for students whose intellectual capacity, rate of learning, and potential for creative contributions demand experiences apart from the regular classroom. It provides diverse and appropriate learning experiences and environments, which incorporate the academic, psychological, and social needs of the students. The program assures each student of educational alternatives which teach, challenge, and expand knowledge while simultaneously stressing the development of an independent learner, who continuously questions, synthesizes, analyzes, evaluates and creates."

Mrs. Schick is the Talented and Gifted teacher for Forbes, Southwest and Vogel-Wetmore Elementary Schools.

Mrs. Schick has a 6th Year in Gifted Education from the Neag School of Education, University of Connecticut. This degree was completed under the direction of Dr. Sally Reis, renown expert in the field of gifted education.
