The Assistant Superintendent is responsible for leadership and program development in the district. This includes:

- Support of instructional practices that are student-centered, engaging, and authentic
- Developmentally appropriate district assessment practices that allow students to demonstrate mastery of course content in multiple ways
- Professional development that promotes teacher growth, aligns with school and district improvement efforts, and results in improved student outcomes
- Promoting school environments that are culturally responsive and value diverse learners
