Voices: Voices 3 is designed to support special education students who have significant communication, social, behavioral and cognitive deficits that impact their ability to access their education in a less restrictive classroom setting. Middle School
![]() Life Skills: The Life Skills program at Torrington Middle School provides students with opportunities to learn basic skills used in everyday life. This program focuses on personal hygiene, basic money management/budgeting, cooking, self-advocacy, and functional reading and mathematics. Life Skills students also have the opportunity to participate in Unified Sports. Teacher: Cheryl Pecha Thrive: Thrive is a multi-level program for students in 6th, 7th and 8th grade that require a highly structured learning environment to address the individual social and behavioral needs of students who are struggling in the mainstream public school setting. Thrive provides a structured and nurturing environment that assists students in need of intensive behavioral, emotional and social support, helping them develop the necessary skills they need to regulate their behavior, practice age appropriate social skills, and achieve success academically. High School
Post-Secondary Transition 18-21: The Torrington Transition Academy is a continuation of the Life Skills program for students 18-22 years old. This program is housed at the EdAdvance Regional Learning Center (formally known as East School). This in district program provides students with opportunities to improve their independence and vocational skills. Skills are learned both in school and at on site job locations. |

PAVE: The Pre-vocational and Vocational Education Program, or PAVE Program at Torrington High School, provides students with opportunities to improve their independence and vocational skills. This accredited program is built into the school day and provides students with the opportunity to learn and practice real-world skills while providing them with on the job training. In the PAVE program, students learn skills both in school and at on-site job locations. |

Resource: The student’s primary instruction is provided in the general education setting. Specialized instruction addressing the students specific learning needs is provided by a special education teacher or paraeducator. Instruction will focus on addressing specific IEP goals and objectives in addition providing the students an opportunity to receive pre-teaching or reinforcement of general education concepts. |
